Coconut Sonata
for piano solo
Its title may be deceptive- the work is by no means a sonata: it has 5 movements, none of which conform to a sonata form or anything to do with the genre. The music of the Coconut sonata is easy to listen to, and its execution is facile to the most. Although there are a few challenging passages, a pre-college student could easily master any of those. The inspiration for the piece came through a meditation on life and the cycle of birth and rebirth.
